Welcome to the 2024/2025 Nippers season at Ocean Beach where we offer a fun and active lifestyle choice for children between the ages of 5 and 13 within a relaxed family environment. Once again we are looking forward to a great season with warm water, good waves and sunny days. We especially look forward to meeting new members and welcome back our nippers from last year.

Parents at Nippers

Become Involved

How Parents can get involved at Ocean Beach Nippers! We are continually working to make Ocean Beach Nippers a club where all children feel proud to be a member, where they learn individual and team skills on the beach and in the surf, and above all where they have a great time each weekend. As a voluntary organisation we need help from you, the parents and guardians, to be able to make Nippers an enjoyable experience for all our Members. This year at Ocean Beach we have strengthened the parent participation requirements with the need for one parent at registration to nominate the activity which they would like to assist in.

How Parents Can Help

Marshaling and activity assistance Water Safety – (must hold current Bronze qualification), Carnival Official, Carnival Tent Set-up and Pack-up Teams, Beach Set-up and Pack-up Teams, Administration – Attendance Register table, and Administration – Carnival Entries. We will be very happy to discuss any of these roles with you at the Registration days. Bronze Training: To obtain your surf bronze medallion, and therefore work with the kids in the water, you will be trained via the Senior Club. Please indicate your interest for this also.

Club Boards

We have a supply of Nipper boards and children are able to use these boards during Sunday training and competition. U/9 & U/10 — Use a foam surf board. U/11 to U/13 — Use fibre glass boards. U/14 — Use Racing Mals. Only under 14s who have been trained on these boards are allowed to use them. All these boards are expensive to repair and replace. They are only available for Sunday morning Nipper activities or for supervised training. They are not available for general recreation. Club boards used by children must be taken back to the shed.
